Hong Kong International Airport and Its Role in the Pearl River Delta and China

Speaker:Dr David J Pang Chief Executive Officer, Airport Authority Hong Kong


Dr Pang was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Airport Authority Hong Kong on 1 January 2001. A businessman, engineer and academic, Dr Pang previously held senior global business management positions with multinational corporations and taught at universities in North America and Asia.


He joined the Airport Authority Hong Kong after a successful career with the conglomerate E.I. DuPont, where he was Corporate Vice President in charge of DuPont worldwide nonwovens business and Chairman, DuPont Greater China. During his career with DuPont, Dr Pang held a number of progressively senior positions across various DuPont businesses and with assignments and responsibilities spanning the Asia Pacific, North America, Europe and South America since 1980.


Dr Pang is also an academic. He is currently the Adjunct Professor in both Faculty of Business Administration of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and Faculty of Business of City University of Hong Kong. He was a visiting professor in the engineering college of University of Kentucky in 1974 and was an adjunct associate professor at Columbia University from 1977-1979. He has lectured extensively at universities in Asia, including Beijing University, Tsinghua University, Jiaotong University, Fudan University, Nanjing University, Tianjin University, Hunan University, National Cheng Kung University and National University of Singapore.


Dr Pang is the Vice President and Executive Committee Member of Airports Council International, Pacific Region. He is also a member of the worldwide ACI Governing Board.


Dr Pang is a Council Member of Save the Children Hong Kong.
