Speaker:

Prof. Brain Slack Concordia University Montreal, Canada


Prof Slack graduated from the London School of Economics and McGill University, Montreal. He is the member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Transport Geography, and Secretary of the IGU Commission on Marine Geography. He has been a consultant to the Government of Canada on intermodal transportation developments, and to the Government of Quebec on port development. In addition, he has been a consultant to a number of private companies on marine transport issues. His interests are maritime geography, and intermodal transportation. He teaches a graduate course on Transport policy. He is presently involved in several funded academic research projects: globalisation and the shipping industry; transport development in remote regions; freight transport in the city; and, in a CIDA project involving transport planning and training in three Chinese metropolitain regions.
